EFE Trenes de Chile, awards Consultrans one project for the recovery of the workshops and support infrastructure of the Maestranza San Eugenio.
The project will be carried out jointly for a year and a half by Consultrans and CDI. The aim is to propose different solutions and develop the one that best suits the requirements of EFE, at the level of basic engineering. The company is focused in ensuring the maximum protection of the values and attributes that these assets represent, in order to guarantee the protection of workers and their relevance as national and railway heritage.
During the first stage, relevant models and tests will be developed, which allow to define its current state and project its future condition at the level of preliminary draft and basic engineering, trying at all times not to affect or generate modifications to the facilities, which have been named National Monuments (wheel workshop, electric workshop, and diesel workshop).
For EFE Trenes de Chile, the recovery of the workshops of Maestranza San Eugenio is very relevant, since it allows the repair and rolling stock maintenance,to carry out successfully the railway operation.
